Visiting Kuala Lumpur Bird Park
One of the most amazing structures in Malaysia, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park gets thousands of visits from tourists each year. The unique experience with birds it provides makes it a popular attraction away from the busy city.
Dubbed as the “World’s Largest Free Flight Walk-in Aviary”, the 21-acre property is open to all visitors looking to spend their day with birds in their natural habitat. There are various activities with birds that everyone can enjoy as well. Here are some guide from our team.
Over 3,000 species of birds can be seen in this amazing aviary located inside the eco-tourism park, Lake Gardens. Different species of birds fly in and out through the valley to spend their time in a mini-rainforest setting.
You can even see beautiful ostriches, peacocks, and other grounded birds walking around the aviary where visitors can have a close encounter with. It is an enjoyable experience for anyone who loves birds and nature.
The park has many activities that visitors can share. The feeding time for various species of flying birds is at 10:30 am. There are also scheduled times for ostrich, lory, hornbill, eagle, and milky stork feeding between 10 am to 4 pm.
Photographs with birds can also be taken throughout the day but tourists are reminded of the Do’s and Don’t when taking pictures. Avoid touching and disturbing them when you want to take a picture especially without the presence of a KL Bird Park staff.
An aviary is not complete without a daily bird show which is a crowd favorite especially with groups and families visiting the park. The KL Bird Park bird show takes almost an hour long and happens at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm at the Amphitheatre in Zone 4 of the park.
There are over 13 main attractions inside the park with spots for specific types of birds, a bird gallery and education center, egg incubation site, and the large amphitheater. Everyone can see all types of birds from across different species.
Tourists can navigate through the park using the official Kuala Lumpur Bird Park Map. The place is divided into four zones. Birds places are spreads throughout the first four zones. The gift shops and restaurants are also indicated in the map. There are also routes indicated on the map for tourists to follow to pass through all the attractions.
Visitors can start entering the park at 9 am and most shops close at around 6 pm. Shops like the Hornbill gift shop, Flaming and Parrot Kiosk, Peacock Gift shop offer anything from food to souvenirs. The Feathered Friends Photo Booth, which closes at 5 pm, is where you can take pictures with your family and friends to take home. There is also the Hornbill Restaurant & Café where folks can have dinner since it closes at 8 in the evening.
